1909 Guesthouse

Where History Meets the Mountain

Perched above the breathtaking Vouraikos Gorge, in the heart of the Helmos–Vouraikos UNESCO Global Geopark. Built in 1909 beside the historic Mega Spilaio Monastery, our guesthouse has watched over these mountains for more than a century. It has welcomed pilgrims, travelers, and adventurers — then fell silent for decades. Now, lovingly restored, it stands once again as a retreat for those seeking the quiet beauty of the Greek mountains, the charm of heritage architecture, and the warmth of genuine hospitality.

Hospitality & History

Our nine double rooms are designed for adults seeking quiet and connection with nature. Inside, warm wooden details and soft tones create a calm retreat, while large windows frame breathtaking views of the Vouraikos Gorge and the surrounding peaks. Here, mornings are filled with light, evenings with silence, and every moment feels far from the noise of the world.

The Experience

At 1909 Guesthouse, each stay is more than a night’s rest — it’s a pause from the world. The surrounding nature, the timeless presence of the Mega Spilaio Monastery, and the endless mountain views create an atmosphere that is both grounding and inspiring.

From the first sip of your morning coffee to the last glow of sunset over the gorge, every detail invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and let the mountain set your pace.

From Then to Now

A Legacy on the Edge of the Vouraikos Gorge

Perched on a rock since 1909, our guesthouse has witnessed over a century of stories. From its early days as a stone landmark for travelers, to its present-day role as a peaceful hideaway in the heart of the Helmos–Vouraikos Geopark, the building carries the charm of the past into every stay.
